Epiphany Devotion — “Led by the Light”
Scripture:
Devotion:
Epiphany
invites us to linger with the Magi—those mysterious travelers who saw a light
in the sky and recognized it as the beginning of something God was doing in the
world. They didn’t know all the details. They didn’t have a map. But they had
enough light to take the next step, and they followed it.
Their
journey reminds us that God often leads us the same way, not with a floodlight
that reveals every turn, but with a star—just enough guidance to move forward
in faith. Epiphany is the celebration of God making Himself known, not all at
once, but in ways that draw us closer, step by step.
The
Magi also show us what it means to seek Christ with intention. They traveled far,
endured uncertainty, and asked hard questions. Their search was active, not
passive. And when they finally found the Child, they didn’t simply observe
Him—they worshiped Him. Their gifts were expressions of devotion, humility, and
trust.
Epiphany
invites us to bring our gifts as well. Not gold, frankincense, or myrrh, but
the offerings of our lives—our obedience, our time, our love, our willingness
to be led. Christ still shines His light into our world, and He still calls His
people to follow.
And
notice one more detail: after encountering Jesus, the Magi “returned by another
way.” Meeting Christ always changes our direction. It alters our priorities,
reshapes our hopes, and reorients our path. Epiphany is not just about a star
in the sky; it’s about the Light of the world transforming those who come near
Him.
As
we step into a new year, may we be people who watch for God’s light, who follow
where He leads, and who offer Him our worship with joy. And may we, like the
Magi, go forward by “another way”—the way shaped by Christ’s presence, His
truth, and His grace.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to be like the Magi and follow the way to
the child in the manger. Let us be seekers who follow in the Magi’s footsteps.
Let us offer Jesus our worship and give Him our best gifts. Help us,
Lord, to lead others to you. Amen.
