Sermon on the Gospel

Luke 4:16–21. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,             18        “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,       because he has anointed me       to proclaim good news to the poor.                    He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives       and recovering of sight to the blind,       to set at liberty those who are oppressed,             19        to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and fsat down. Good news or Good advice

Scripture: 16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Dr. Wright argues for a life changing perspective on the good news and shows how it affects every part of a Christian’s life             He comes up with a simple d

Ephiphany 2015

Scripture: Ephesians 3:8-12 (NRSV) 8  Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ, 9  and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things; 10  so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11  This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12  in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him. 13  I pray therefore that you may not lose heart over my sufferings for you; they are your glory. Meditation:             Paul is making known the Gospel of Jesus Christ through his letters to the churches. Now it is the churches turn to make the Gospel known to the people of the earth. This is God’s own plan to spread the good news of Jesus Christ among the peo
