He Forgives All Our Sins
Scripture: Psalm
103:11-12 (ESV)
11 For as high as the heavens are above
the earth,
so great is his
steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he
remove our transgressions from us.
Devotion:
These verses from
Psalm 103 beautifully illustrate the magnitude of God's love and forgiveness.
The psalmist uses the vastness of the universe and the infinite distance from
east to west to help us grasp these divine attributes.
God's love is
described as "high as the heavens above the earth." It is
immeasurable, unfathomable, and uncontainable. It's steadfast, unwavering, and
unchanging. It's a love that is extended to each one of us who fear Him, those
who revere and honor Him. It's a love that makes us feel valued and cherished.
Then, the psalmist
speaks of God's forgiveness. Our transgressions and sins are removed as far as
the East is from the West. This is a vivid picture of complete forgiveness, a
forgiveness that is permanent and unchanging. Just as the East and West never
meet, so our sins, once forgiven, never meet God's judgment. They are
completely removed, never to be held against us again.
So today, let's
take a moment to reflect on these truths. Let's marvel at the greatness of
God's love for us. Let's rejoice in the complete forgiveness He offers. And
let's actively respond in reverence and gratitude for His immeasurable love and
forgiveness. Let's not just acknowledge these truths, but let's live them out
in our daily lives.
If these words of
forgiveness and salvation were given to the believers before Jesus came and
died to secure our salvation, how much more should we be assured of our
forgiveness and salvation found in Christ? The people the psalmist wrote to
were looking forward to Christ’s redeeming work on the cross. We can look back
with gratitude for God’s redemption purchased on the cross of Calvary.
Remember, no
matter what you're going through, God's love for you is as high as the heavens
are above the earth, and He has removed your transgressions as far as the East
is from the West. Rest in this assurance today. Let this truth guide your
actions and interactions with others, as you strive to reflect God's love and
forgiveness in your daily life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are so grateful
that you are a God who forgives all our sins. Without your grace and
forgiveness, we would die a hopeless death and be captive to the devil.
However, with you, we have hope for an eternity spent with you. Thank you for
the grace you extended to us, unworthy servants. Let us glorify your name now
and forever more. Amen.
