Christmas Devotion: A Child is Born

Isaiah 9:6

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." - Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

In the stillness of a winter's night, when the world lies cloaked beneath a blanket of shimmering snow, there is a profound quiet that speaks to the soul. In this silence, we hear whispers of an ancient promise that transcends time and place: unto us, a child is born; unto us, a son is given.

This child, born in the humblest of circumstances, is none other than Jesus, the very Son of God. His birth is a gift of immeasurable love, a light that dispels the darkness and warms the coldest heart. As we gather around our Christmas trees, exchange gifts, and celebrate with loved ones, let us pause to contemplate the true meaning of this season.

Jesus, the Wonderful Counsellor, comes to guide us through life's perplexities. He is the mighty God, whose strength and power are beyond compare. As the everlasting Father, He offers a love that never fails, a love that holds us tenderly and assures us of our worth. And as the Prince of Peace, He calms our restless hearts and brings harmony to our troubled world.

In this sacred moment, we are invited to come and meet Jesus. We are invited to kneel before the manger and gaze upon His tiny face, to feel the awe and wonder of His presence. It is an invitation to experience a love so pure and transformative that it changes everything, filling us with hope and inspiring us to improve our lives, so that we may better imitate Jesus.

Will you come? Will you open your heart to the Prince of Peace, the mighty God, the Wonderful Counsellor? This invitation is personal; it's for you. Will you let His light penetrate the shadows of your life and fill you with hope and joy?

This Christmas, let us not simply celebrate an event long past but encounter the living Christ. Let us embrace Him as our Savior and King and let His love overflow in our hearts, touching the lives of those around us. This encounter fills us with joy and uplifts our spirits.

Come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And this gift, dear friends, is the greatest gift of all.

Amen.
