Impossible Without Faith
Scripture: Hebrews
11:6 (NIV)
And without faith
it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe
that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Devotion:
This verse
declares that faith is essential to the Christian’s life. Faith is essential
because it is the means by which we lay hold of Christ Himself. The Christian
life is not built on self‑effort, moral achievement, or religious performance.
It is built on trusting the One who has already accomplished everything
necessary for our salvation.
Faith looks away
from self and toward Christ. It acknowledges weakness and embraces His
strength. It confesses sin and clings to His righteousness. It admits need and
receives His sufficiency. In this way, faith becomes the lifeline that connects
the believer to the living Christ, drawing from Him the grace, wisdom, and
power needed for every step of the journey.
Faith is also
essential because it shapes how we see the world. It teaches us to interpret
life not through the lens of fear or doubt but through the promises of God.
Faith reminds us that God is sovereign when life feels chaotic, that He is good
when circumstances are painful, and that He is present when we feel alone. It
anchors the heart in truths that do not shift with emotion or circumstance.
Through faith, the believer learns to walk not by sight but by trust in the One
who sees the end from the beginning.
Finally, faith is
essential because it pleases God. Scripture tells us that without faith it is
impossible to please Him, for faith honors His character and takes Him at His
Word. When we trust God, we declare that He is worthy of our confidence and
capable of sustaining our lives. Faith becomes an act of worship, a daily
offering of dependence and devotion.
In every season,
faith remains the heartbeat of the Christian life. It is the means by which we
receive grace, the lens through which we see God’s hand, and the posture that
keeps us anchored in His love.
Prayer:
Help us, dear
Lord, to have faith in you. We often claim to have faith, but fail when our
faith is tested. Help us to be bold witnesses for you in the world. Give us
strength and courage to pass the tests as they come our way. May we be faithful
and true to you in all we do, glorifying you in us. In Jesus name. Amen.
