Walking and Praising God
Scripture: Psalm 89:15 (NIV)
15 Blessed are
those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
Devotion
Psalm 89:15 (NIV) says, “Blessed
are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your
presence, Lord.” This verse is a gentle reminder of the joy and blessing that
come from living in God’s presence and recognizing His goodness in our daily
lives. The psalmist points out that true happiness is found not in material
possessions or achievements, but in our relationship with the Lord and our
willingness to praise Him.
To “acclaim” God means to openly
celebrate Him, to declare His greatness with gratitude and reverence. This is
more than just singing songs or saying prayers; it’s a lifestyle of worship
where our words and actions reflect our love and respect for who He is. When we
learn to acclaim God, we shift our focus from our own worries and struggles to His
faithfulness, mercy, and power.
Walking “in the light of your
presence” suggests a continual awareness of God’s nearness. Light represents
guidance, truth, and hope. When we walk in His light, we allow Him to
illuminate our path and guide our decisions. This doesn’t mean life will always
be easy, but it does mean we can have confidence and peace knowing God is with
us every step of the way.
Consider the blessing that comes
from this way of living. It’s not simply about having good days; it’s about
experiencing God’s joy even in difficult circumstances. His presence transforms
our outlook, renews our strength, and gives us purpose. By acclaiming God and
walking in His light, we become a reflection of His love to those around us.
Today, let’s pause to thank God for
His presence. Let’s choose to acclaim Him in both the big and small moments. As
we walk in His light, may we find joy, peace, and blessing that can only be
found in a close relationship with our Lord.
Prayer:
Lord,
may we learn to love walking with you everywhere we go. Let our praises of who
you are and what you have done for us always be on our lips. Jesus, always be
the light that guides us in doing what is good so that we may bring glory to
your name as we navigate this world that has grown deaf to the good news of
Jesus Christ. Please help us prepare to complete the tasks you would like us to
handle. Amen.
