God Protects Us

Scripture: Psalm 91:1-2 (NIV)

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

My God, in whom I trust.

Devotion Psalm:

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.

Each time we look up at the vastness of the sky, we witness a living testimony of God’s creativity and majesty. Psalm 19:1-2 reminds us that creation itself is an ever-present witness to God’s glory. The heavens, with their endless expanse, colors at sunrise, and the brilliant stars at night, are not silent—they are constantly “pouring forth speech,” eloquently telling of the greatness and power of their Creator.

Unlike human words, the message of the heavens knows no language barrier. Their proclamation is universal and unending. Every sunset, every cloud formation, and every twinkling star is an invitation to pause and reflect on the One who set them in place. Through this daily and nightly display, God calls us to open our eyes and hearts, recognizing His hand in all things. His glory is not hidden away in some distant place; it is woven into the very fabric of the world around us.

Take a moment today to step outside and observe the sky. Let the beauty above you remind you of God’s presence and faithfulness. As you do, may your soul join creation’s chorus, praising the Lord who not only made the heavens, but who cares intimately for you. Let us give thanks, for the skies invite us into awe, worship, and deeper trust in our glorious God.

Prayer:

Lord, we can be safe when we dwell in your presence. There is so much evil and enticements to sin. Please, Lord, that we may cling to your promises found in your scriptures. Let us know and obey that we may bring immediate relief from our sins. Let us know our holy God. Let us always speak words of kindness to one another. May we proclaim God’s truth to all we meet. Amen.
