God Will Deliver Us

Scripture: 118:15-18 (NIV)

Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” I will not die but live and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The Lord has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death.

Devotion:

Psalm 118:15-18 paints a vivid picture of the unshakable joy found in God’s faithfulness. The psalmist declares that triumphant shouts echo from the homes of the righteous because the Lord’s right hand has performed mighty deeds. This is more than just a proclamation of victory—it is the realization that God is actively involved in our lives, fighting our battles and lifting us up, even in our darkest moments.

When the psalmist says, "I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done," we hear the voice of hope in the face of affliction. Life often presents us with challenges that feel overwhelming, yet these verses remind us that God’s power surpasses our circumstances. Even when we are disciplined or experience hardship, it is not to destroy us, but to refine us. The Lord’s chastening is a mark of His love, a sign that He is shaping us for a greater purpose. He does not abandon us to despair; instead, He preserves our lives so we can testify to His goodness.

This passage encourages us to shift our focus from our struggles to God’s mighty acts. Instead of dwelling on pain, we are called to lift our voices in praise, recognizing that every breath is a testimony of God’s mercy. As the righteous, we are not immune to suffering, but we are promised that God is with us, His hand working wonders on our behalf.

Today, reflect on times when you've faced hardship but experienced God’s deliverance and grace. Let your heart overflow with gratitude for His sustaining power. Proclaim, like the psalmist, the mighty things the Lord has done—both in Scripture and in your life. Let your story of survival and praise serve as an encouragement to others. In every season, may shouts of joy and victory echo from your life, declaring the righteousness and faithfulness of the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, we give you praise with thanksgiving for your salvation. Teach us always to be attuned to your ways. May we forever follow you closely and with a jubilant heart. May our actions be a source of joy to you, and may we proclaim your ways in both word and deed. Let us always remember the good you have done in our lives already and forever praise you. Amen.
