Morning Prayer

Let us open our prayer this morning with the following from Psalm 17 (ESV)

 

            I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;

      incline your ear to me; hear my words.

            7       Wondrously show your steadfast love,

      O Savior of those who seek refuge

      from their adversaries at your right hand.

 8       Keep me as the apple of your eye;

      hide me in the shadow of your wings,

 

Let us pray:

O Heavenly Father open our lips,

And our mouth shall pour forth your praise,

Teach us in this new day to not be conformed to the ways of this world,

But grant us a passion to pursue righteousness, peace, and joy,

That we might be found following your ways in all we do,

 

Mighty and Everlasting God,

Who brings us to the start of this new day,

Keep us from all sin,

Help us to defeat all temptation

That we may live lives that are God honoring,

 

May all we do be pleasing in your sight,

Let our lives be lives that worship you in all we do,

Help us promote your Kingdom’s agenda, and not our own

Fill us with your Holy Spirit

Let the Spirit guide all that we say and do in this new day.

Father Forgive Them

  Scripture: Luke 23:33-34 (ESV) 33  And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34  And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Devotion:             The situation Jesus finds himself in here in today’s scripture is difficult for us to even imagine. A sham trial, no credible accusations of any kind, let alone any deserving of death, and yet here he is. A brilliant Rabbi, a teacher of the people who never led even one person astray from God’s will.   This is a copy of my letter to my senators, representative, and President Biden. January 15, 2024 Dear President Biden, Senators T. Duckworth, R. Durbin, and Representative D. LaHood             I am writing to you because I am concerned about the situation affecting our children and grandchildren, namely transitioning them from one gender to another. This nation must adjust course concerning these “interventions” because they are dangerous, irreversible, and life-changing. Our country should not be permitting these procedures on minor children under any circumstances.
