Encourage One Another
Scripture:
Hebrews 10:19-25 (ESV)
19 Therefore, brothers,
since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and
living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his
flesh, 21 and since
we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and
our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let
us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is
faithful. 24 And let
us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to
meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all
the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Meditation;
These words by the author of Hebrews
give us great comfort as Christians. They let us know that through Jesus we are
clean from all sinful thoughts and actions by the blood of Jesus. They teach us
that now we can hold a hope unwavering because Jesus who promised is faithful
to complete all good works in us.
It gives us instruction that we are
to stir one another into doing great things for the Lord. We are to provoke one
another to love and good works because of the hope that lies within us.
We are to encourage one another to
meet together. Because as the day of Christ’s return draws near we will need
each other all the more. We also must encourage one another because as the day
of Christ draws near it will be harder and harder to live a Christian life.
Therefore we must draw closer to each other for mutual support and love.
Let us pray for such oneness right
now.
Prayer:
Holy God, we can see the day of
Christ approaching. Help us to build each other up into one holy body that we
may be ready when Christ comes. Help us to encourage one another. Teach us the
importance of meeting together for mutual edification and the growth of
Christian love. Let us seek to be a witness of Christian love all the more as
we sense the day approaching. That our lives may draw many to yourself. In Jesus
name, Amen.
