The Lord is Good
Enter his gates
with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his
name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness
continues through all generations.
Devotion
Gratitude is the
doorway to God’s presence. Psalm 100 reminds us that worship begins with
thanksgiving. Before we ask for anything, we are invited to acknowledge all
that God has already done. When we “enter His gates,” we step into a sacred
space where our hearts align with His goodness. Thanksgiving shifts our focus
from what we lack to the abundance of His grace.
Praise follows
thanksgiving. It’s not just about saying “thank you” but about declaring who
God is—good, loving, and faithful. These attributes never change. In a world
where circumstances fluctuate and promises are broken, God’s character remains
steadfast. His goodness is not dependent on our situation; His love is not
conditional; His faithfulness is not temporary. It extends “through all
generations,” meaning the same God who was faithful to Abraham, David, and the
early church is faithful to you today.
When life feels
heavy, thanksgiving can feel unnatural. Yet in those moments, gratitude becomes
a weapon against despair. Start small: thank Him for the breath in your lungs,
the sunrise, and His Word that speaks life. As you do, your perspective shifts.
Praise lifts your eyes from problems to the One who holds all power.
Psalm 100 is a
call to joyful worship, not out of obligation but out of revelation. We praise
because we know who He is. We give thanks because His goodness is constant. We
worship because His love never fails. And we trust because His faithfulness is
eternal.
Today, take time
to enter His gates with thanksgiving. Speak out loud what you’re grateful for.
Sing a song of praise. Let your heart overflow with worship. In doing so,
you’ll find peace, joy, and renewed strength in His presence.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your
goodness, Your unfailing love, and Your faithfulness that never ends. Help me
to approach You with a heart full of gratitude and lips that overflow with
praise. Teach me to trust Your character even when life feels uncertain. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.
