The Devil’s Time is Short

Scripture: Revelation 12:10-12 (ESV)

10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath because he knows that his time is short!”

Devotion:

In the cosmic drama depicted in the book of Revelation, a book of prophecy and divine revelation, we witness a clash of kingdoms—a struggle for souls. Amid this celestial battle, the accuser—Satan—stands before God, relentlessly pointing out our flaws, our failures. Day and night, he accuses us. But in a moment of divine justice, his accusations are silenced. The heavenly court renders its verdict: Guilt washed away by the blood of the Lamb.

Our victory isn’t in our strength or eloquence but in the Lamb—the crucified, risen Savior. His blood secures our freedom. Our testimony—our personal story of redemption—is not just a story, it is a powerful weapon against the enemy. When we share how Jesus transformed our lives, we disarm the accuser, showing the world the power of our personal experiences.

Heaven erupts in celebration. The accuser has been hurled down. But on earth, woe lingers. The defeated devil, knowing his time is short, rages. His fury targets humanity. In this tension between rejoicing and woe, we stand. Our lives, our actions, and our testimonies echo heaven’s song—a melody of redemption, a defiance against darkness. We are not alone in this battle; we are part of a greater purpose.

May we live unashamed of the gospel, boldly proclaiming the good news. And as we do, may others encounter the same life-changing power that captivated Paul—a power that transformed a persecutor of Christians into one of the most influential apostles, a power that leads to eternal righteousness.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for your victory over Satan and his minions. Now, we ask for strength to stand up to his great wrath against us. Lord, we ask that you come quickly and give a final to that rebel, Satan. Lord, keep us from falling into the snares of the devil. Deliver us day by day from the evil Satan intends for us. Help us to glorify you by living lives of quiet resistance to the devil, but be bold to speak the truth in Jesus' name. Amen
