Jesus is Our Savior

This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

Devotion

The passage from 1 John 1:13-16 declares the intimate relationship we share with God through Jesus Christ. It begins with the assurance that we, as believers, live in God and He in us, a relationship made possible by the gift of His Spirit. This indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is a testament to our acceptance and transformation through faith in Jesus Christ.

The apostle John emphasizes the certainty of this relationship by stating that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. This foundational truth is the cornerstone of our faith. We enter into this divine fellowship through the recognition and acknowledgment of Jesus as the Son of God, as the one who came to save us from our sins and reconcile us to God. When we confess Jesus as Lord, we invite God to dwell within us, and in turn, we abide in Him.

This mutual indwelling is not merely a theological concept but a lived experience. We come to know and rely on the love God has for us—a love that is not distant or abstract but deeply personal and transformative. John succinctly declares, "God is love." This profound truth means that our relationship with God is characterized by love. To live in love is to live in God, and when we embrace love, we allow God to fill our lives with His deeply personal and cherishing presence.

Living in love means more than just acknowledging God's love for us. It means embodying His attributes in our daily lives. It is reflected in our thoughts, words, and actions. It means showing others compassion, kindness, and forgiveness, just as God has shown us. It means being patient, understanding, and selfless. When we live in love, we reflect God's very nature to the world around us.

This devotion invites us to examine our hearts and lives. Are we truly living in God's love? Are we allowing His Spirit to guide and transform us? Let us recommit ourselves to acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and allowing His love to flow through us. As we do, we will experience the fullness of God's presence in our lives and be a testament to His love in the world. Let this call to live in love motivate and empower us in our daily lives.

Prayer:

Lord, may we always remember that God is love, and whoever lives in love lives in God, and God In them. This is the essence of our faith and the source of our hope and joy. Guide us to sanctification and make us fit for heaven. Amen.
